FORCED ENTRY AND RESULTANT DAMAGES CLAIM
ASSESSMENT
Black Bird Construction was contacted by the client’s insurance company to assess and conduct repair work. An assessment took place at the client’s property in Paternoster, where various items were inspected and a quotation was then generated and accepted by the insurer and client. Below is a breakdown of what transpired during the claim and excerpts of the assessor’s findings have been included as a means to explain the various building work required to repair the damages. The scope of work has also been included along with photos of the damages before and after the repairs were completed. We hope you enjoy the post and if you would like to learn more about Black Bird Construction please feel free to contact us.
REPORT
Damages:
Gate: The fold-up security gate was damaged/cut using a hack-saw to gain access into the house. As a temporary measure, the client has fastened a set of cross-bars on top of the gate using rivets/screws.
This does look odd in photos, especially if you don’t know what work was carried out to temporarily fix the gate. This was the only way to fix the gate until a new gate could be installed.
Other Damages:
There are additional damages to additional parts of the property that include damaged windows, gate locks/latches and some plaster/paint works. Other affected property includes a bedroom door which has been repaired already.
The windows are a tricky item to repair as they have chunks of wood that have been pressed and removed from the frame. The only way to repair this without taking out and replacing the entire window is to fill these areas with timber and repaint/varnish the full window. I have provided, in my quotation, this repair method.
SCOPE OF WORKS
BELOW IS A BREAKDOWN OF THE REPAIR WORK CONDUCTED TO THE RESULTANT DAMAGES AT THE AFFECTED PROPERTY:
