REPORT

On 23 July the client, ***, was alerted by the municipality to a high spike in water use.  There was no visible leak at her property.  **** immediately switched off the water main at the property when council notified her on the phone of the spike.  On 24 July ****, Leak Detection Specialists were sent to the house to detect where the leak was.  **** Plumbers use specialist leak detection equipment to locate leaks.  The technician searched the pipeline and identified a hidden leak in the underground ring main running around outside around the house.  As the pipe ran under the ground it was a concealed leak.  The affected section of the ring main pipe was removed and then a stop end was fitted to both ends of the pipe to prevent any further leaks.  We, Blackbird Construction, were then called in by the Insurance firm, ****, to complete the necessary repairs to the burst underground pipe.  This repairs we carried out by our plumber.  The repair was done on Monday 29 July 2019.  The water mains remained off at the property between the date of discovery of the burst pipe and our effecting the repair to the burst pipe

–         Re-establishing the existing supply line

–         We replaced the existing and problematic polyprop pipe with pex pipe

–         Thorough testing was then conducted on the pipeline and no further leaks could be found.  After the repairs were done we checked the water metre and found that it was static and that there are no further leaks.
