ASSESSMENT

Black Bird Construction was contacted by the client’s insurance company to assess and conduct repair work. An assessment took place at the client’s property in Paarl, where various items were inspected and a quotation was then generated and accepted by the insurer and client. Below is a breakdown of what transpired during the claim and excerpts of the assessor’s findings have been included as a means to explain the various building work required to repair the damages. The scope of work has also been included along with photos of the damages before and after the repairs were completed. SCOPE OF WORKS

BELOW IS A BREAKDOWN OF THE REPAIR WORK CONDUCTED TO THE RESULTANT DAMAGES AT THE AFFECTED PROPERTY:

Tile removal | Surface prep:
  • Apply smooth finished skim-plaster to affected area.
  • Plaster work to screed to ensure ideal fall and surface for tiling application.
  • All required materials and labour included.
Tiling works – Floor and shower wall:
  • Remove all existing sanitary ware (Toilet, vanity, toilet roll holder, etc.).
  • Supply and fit tiles as per existing as well as the mosaic.
  • Client to select a tile.
  • Supply all required materials and trims.
  • All labour included in costing.
  • Fix tiles to bathtub enclosure.
  • Rate includes waterproofing work.
  • Supply and apply matching grout as per existing.
  • Allowance for cuttings included.
  • Apply waterproof sealer to the bathtub base and surround.
  • Re-fit all sanitary ware.
Plumbing works:
  • Disconnect all supplies running into the bathroom.
  • Finalise tiling works.
  • Reconnect and test all connections at home.
  • Re-fit toilet and mixer at pedestal basin.
Rubble removal:
  • Remove all rubble from site.
  • Ensure that the site is left in a clean and orderly manner.
